As you may know, I have a story in Secrets & Sorcery, a paranormal romance and urban fantasy anthology featuring eccentric witches and unique magical abilities. There are 17 brand new stories in this set, written by 20+ authors, so I thought it’d be fun to put the spotlight on each of them! First up is author Lindsey R. Loucks.
Lindsey R. Loucks is a USA Today bestselling author living in rural Kansas. When she’s not discussing books with anyone who will listen, she’s dreaming up her own stories. Eventually her brain gives out, and she’ll play hide and seek with her cat, put herself in a chocolate-induced coma, or watch scary movies alone in the dark to re-energize.
Get to know more about Lindsey in this fun Q&A...
Hello, Lindsey! Tell me a little about yourself:
I’m just a writer/freelance editor who claps at inappropriate times and licks random walls.
And what kind of books do you write?
My writing is all over the place! I write YA and NA from contemporary to horror and from sweet to sizzling.
What’s your Secrets & Sorcery story?
Boxes By Irene: Irene has reached level expert at opening the unopenable, but when it comes to the box-shaped walls she’s built around her heart, only a mysterious stranger can unlock her love.
What inspired you to write about the kind of witchery found in Boxes by Irene?
I was talking to my dad on the phone, and he reminded me of my childhood habit of blowing on my fingers. I paired that with my fascination with boxes and voila! Boxes By Irene was born!
What’s your favorite line from your story?
“I suppose now’s not a good time to announce I need to use the bathroom.”
Is this story part of a larger world or series (or will it be)?
I suppose it could be a series if people seem to like it. If not, I’ll pretend I never met Irene. 😉
So, this set is all about witches. have you / do you practice any kind of witchcraft or divination (like tarot cards, etc)?
I do (forced) tarot card readings for my husband, in which he practices his eye rolling skills. He’s got crazy strong eye sockets now!
What’s the one UF/PNR series or book you’d like to see made into a movie or TV show?
Anna Dressed in Blood by Kendare Blake would be a ton of fun!
Ooh, that’s a good one! That would be a lot of fun. What are your top 3 favorite paranormal romance books?
- The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan
- Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
- Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
So, what’s next for you?
Legacy released yesterday, on June 20th! myBook.to/legacyfaction11
Finding him was easy. Figuring him out is the hard part.
Only one thing could make nineteen-year-old Hadley Hawthorn leave her house for the first time in two years—revenge. The Isa fae murdered her entire family, so the promise of ending their control over witches like Hadley is too sweet to resist.
All she needs to do is find Kason Fields, a human who’s supposedly the key to ending Isa fae power. Hadley’s hacking skills and her patience level of zero make that part simple. But when she inadvertently leads the Isa fae straight to Kason’s doorstep, things get complicated. Now, it’s up to her to keep them both two steps ahead of the murderous fae.
But staying close to the secretive Kason unfurls something even stronger than Hadley’s need for revenge—hope. When the Isa fae close in, though, hope may not be enough to keep them both alive.
Good luck with that new book, and thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions!
