Hello there! I'm Cherita ❤

From an ocean perch in the City of Angels, I weave speculative fiction tales of all kinds: sci-fi, dystopian, paranormal & urban fantasy for teens and adults.

As a grown up not-quite-goth, I'm drawn to the dark and macabre, the whimsical and the weird; fairy tales, mythology, alchemy and the occult are all minor obsessions. As a woman of color, I long for more diversity in publishing; representation really does matter. So, you'll find all of these things in my writing.

Dark and twisty themes, multicultural characters, lush descriptions with a dash of creepy thriller and a sprinkle of fairytale myth... that's my writing jam. If that sounds like your jam too, you should give my stories a read ➔

Once upon a time in the not-too-distant past, I also did fundraising and online marketing for nonprofit organizations including a domestic violence shelter, the politically progressive Brave New Films, and Film Independent, the arts organization behind the Los Angeles Film Festival and the Spirit Awards. I did a lot of writing then too, only none of it was speculative and it was (mostly) non-fiction.

Published fiction includes Project Snow, a sci-fi re-imagining of Snow White that's more Grimm than Disney, and Deadly Beauties, haunting paranormal tales of troubled girls. If you love fairy tale and myth-inspired spec fic, these stories might be for you. Check out my books ➔

Like most writers, I'm also a voracious reader. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, you'll find new posts including a weekly guide to the latest sci-fi & fantasy books, themed book lists, new writers to love, spec fic in culture, flash fiction, and other bookish things. Visit the blog ➔
